音樂的內在遊戲是第一本將網球教練出身的提摩西．高威首創之”內在遊戲”概念應用於運動之外領域的書，於1986年由美國紐約雙日出版社出版，全書共225頁。本書由低音提琴家貝瑞．格林與高威合作，以三年時間，經由針對專業音樂家、音樂教師及學生做的訪談與問卷，及一系列的講座與工作坊，實際應用演練，完成此書，對演奏心理的探討及潛能開發很有具體貢獻。所謂的“內在遊戲”是相對於“外象遊戲”（the Outer Game）──泛指一般學習所涵蓋的技巧及知識層面──而言，指涉我們進行任何一種行為時的心理層面。兩種遊戲無時不交互作用，影響演出成果。本書即專注於此一心理層面的探討，並藉由具體的方法演練，減低演奏時的心理干擾因素，使個人潛能於學習過程與臨場演出時能充分發揮。本文將音樂的內在遊戲全書做一簡略的摘要 ，焦點置於內在遊戲之核心概念與主要技巧。這本書所揭示的內在遊戲概念，不只侷限於運動與音樂領域，而可以擴展到工作與生活中各種行為與活動的心理層面。

The Inner Game of Music is the first book written about the Inner Game concept , which was initiated by Timothy Gallwey, that applies to a field outside the area of sports. This book, published in 1986, was a result of a 3-year close collaboration between Barry Green, an active double-bass soloist and teacher, and Timothy Gallwey.The fundamental insight of Timothy Gallwey’s approach is that when you are playing the “outer” game with the familiar outer rules in different areas of human performance, you are also playing an “inner” game all the time.
