Taipei National University of the Arts’ TTn-thau troup was invited to participate in the 19th Honolulu Festival, which was made possible after more than one year’s planning and training. During February 23rd to March 3rd, 2013, students chosen from Department of Traditional Music and the Traditional Arts Program of the Center for Traditional Arts presented Lam-koan (Nanguan) and Pak-koan (Beiguan) music, Taiwan Lion Dance, Chhia-ko Dance, indigo, paper cutting, and workshops for lanterns, kites, and kungfu, to diverse societies in Honolulu, including Chinese groups, Rotary Club, elementary school, and people visiting the USS Missouri Battleship (BB-63) which ended the WWII. These events have given a rare chance, for those who are yet to access Taiwan’s traditional culture, to see the beauty of Taiwan’s culture by chance. This visit has strongly relied on Taiwanese-Hawaiian’s selfless efforts and the TNUA team’s full preparation, which made every performance possible when facing difficulties of many occasions.
